Description
Ratford Dale Antidote Gamay, Ben Radford and Brit Alex Dale, Stellenbosch 2019
The estate is the brainchild of Aussie Ben Radford and Brit Alex Dale who crossed paths in Burgundy and later in South Africa. They eventually set up the Radford Dale estate in 1998 in the Stellenbosch region of South Africa. Ben returned to the Barossa Valley but Alex remains to continue the tradition of producing excellent wines from vineyards located in the Devon Valley (3ha) and Helderberg Mountain (4ha).
Radford Dale “The Antidote” is made from grapes from a single 20 year old vineyard on their South African vineyard. Because of a cold, dry season, fewer grapes were able to be harvested, but the grapes that were harvested were more intensely flavored than years past. The nose has a full and generous bouquet, with lots of lush plum and raspberry and complex aromas of spice and herbs. This Gamay is intensely fruity and complimented by airy and supple tannins. Just enough grip to define the finish. One of a kind, totally individual.
Grape: 100% Gamay
