Description
Tokara Cabernet Sauvignon, Stellenbosch, South Africa 2020
Tokara prides itself on making wines that are site specific, produced from their picture perfect, prime location vineyards on the southern slopes of the Simonsberg Mountain, the Highlands in the Elgin district and Siberia in the Hemel-en-Aarde Valley near Hermanus. High altitude sites with cool temperatures contribute to the restrained and elegant style of winemaker Miles Mossop’s wines.
Tokara Cabernet Sauvignon is blended with a bit of Merlot and Petit Verdot, and sees around 15% to 18% new wood. It has a straight forward red berry, winegum-scented nose that is accessible and generous. The palate is medium-bodied with grainy tannin, nice and taut with a crisp line of acidity, touches of cedar and graphite on the finish. This is a well made, approachable, punter-friendly Cabernet Sauvignon.
Grapes: 80% Cabernet and 20% Merlot and Petit Verdot
