Description
Brunello di Montalcino Riserva’ Martoccia di Brunelli Luca, Tuscany 2017
Martoccia di Brunelli Luca, Montalcino, Martoccia, Tuscany
In 1964, the Brunelli family bought a small farm comprising some 3 hectares of vines in Martoccia, on the edge of Montalcino. In 1988, Mauro and his son Luca purchased a further parcel of land so that now the estate totals 15 hectares, of which 5 hectares are classified as Brunello di Montalcino DOCG. The vineyards are located on the southwest side of Montalcino at an average altitude of 250m, ensuring that the wines express as much fragrance as possible. Luca encourages low yields in order to focus on quality and autfenticity.
Slightly peppery-spicy aroma of ripe, partly preserved red and a little black berries with dried herbal, slightly iodine and floral aromas. Ripe, quite fresh, tart-juicy fruit, fine, lively acidity and taut, youthful tannin, spicy and dried-floral aromas on the palate, again also herbs, a trace of citrus zest, iodine and pepper in the background, cooling mineral tones, a hint of tobacco and herbs, smoky traces, very good, taut, juicy and tart-spicy finish.
