Cariñena Rojo ‘Kalius 22’ Bodegas Monfil 2020
Bodegas Monfil, Cariñena, Aragón
Bodegas Monfil is situated in the northeast of Spain on the Ebro River, where the grape varieties Macabeo, Garnacha and Tempranillo are the speciality. Their vineyards cover approximately 22 hectares, over a myriad of different microclimates, due to soil variation, altitude variation and orientation differences. Still owned and run by the Matéo family, the business was originally established in 1943 but they did not bottle their own wine until the early 2000’s. Now run by siblings Maria, Victor and Ana, the bodega produces excellent wines that offer great value.
The deep red Cariñena, balanced and smooth with juicy plums, black cherries and sweet spice. This is so easy-drinking, with soft tannins and a lingering fruity finish.
