Description
Corton Charlemagne Grand Cru Domaine Du Pavillon 2019
Domaine du Pavillon, Alebrt Bichot
One of the few Grand Cru vineyards for white wines, Corton-Charlemagne yields wines that marry weight, intensity and elegance. This wine is made from carefully selected hand-picked grapes from the Languettes vineyard inside the Corton-Charlemagne AOC. The wine is fermented very slowly in barrel with 60% new oak, and aged further in barrel (with 30% new barrel stock) with occasional lees stirring for between 12 and 15 months.
This considerable allocation of care and capital results is a magnificent wine that shows the full spectrum of Chardonnay fruit married beautifully to sweet and smoky oak characteristics, and shines through on a palate that is intense, full-bodied, but perfectly balanced with a nerve of acidity and of staggering length. Classic, will keep for at least 10 years after the vintage.
