Description
Syrah ‘Terre de Mandrin’ IGP Collines Rhodaniennes, Pierre Gaillard 2021
Pierre Gaillard, Malleval, Saint Joseph
Pierre Gaillard continues to produce some of the most stunning wines from his 25ha domaine near Malleval. Handling the Viognier, Roussanne, Marsanne and Syrah with the same gifted care, he offers a very fine and wide range of wines. We are only importing a small selection from his superlative collection. When he is not busy in the Northern Rhône, he is helping his daughters, Jeanne in Crozes Hermitage and Elise in Banyuls, whilst even finding time to run a small estate in Faugères.
Named for the French Robin Hood known as Louis Mandrin, and grown nearby the northern Rhone Valley appellations, this IGP expresses the fruitiness of young wines, all the while preserving the typical character of wines from this region. This wine benefits from a bit less extraction than the appellation wines nearby, but it still expresses the fresh qualities and fleshy fruitiness associated with the Syrah grape variety. Superb, with precision and elegance, a gourmet concentration highlights this Syrah’s spicy and smoky notes. Pleasurable on the palate with an acidic finish, full of freshness and red fruit.
Grape: 100% Syrah
